We are really excited to announce a new partnership with an exciting new event in the coming year: the Eastbourne Triathlon set for the 12th June 2016.

Its going to be great!  Not only is the course challenging and offering an extra twist, but you just know there'll be a real buzz and excitement (much more than you might normally associate with Eastbourne).

There'll be three races.  The triathlon sprint starts with a 600m sea swim.  It then tackles a 25km cycle route, taking in a big climb up to Beachy Head at the start of the majestic Severn Sisters, followed by an out and back 5km run that takes in a big climb at St Bedes Hill before finishing on Western Lawns.  There also is a SUP triathlon – taking to standup paddle boards for the same 600m sea leg.  And the third variant is an Aquabike race, for those for whom the swim and bike will be more than enough.

ZigZag Alive will be providing our support through the Training page on the race site, offering advice and tips both for beginners and for the more experienced taking on this great challenge.  In the coming months, all the way to June we’ll be offering advice on the ideal mix of training that will help build up and help entrants be in peak condition on the 12 June.  We’ll also be taking a look at some of the special features of the race and how best to prepare for them.   And we’ll be on hand to answer any training related questions through the event’s Facebook and Twitter (@eastbournetri) pages.

The event is organised by race organiser and friend Rich Campbell from Beyond Sport Marketing.  Rich has been the force behind the highly successful and prestigious XTERRA England in 2014 and 2015 as well as working with many other major races through the South of England.  Also on hand to help will be Eastbourne’s own triathlon club Bodyworks XTC who we also have great links with.

Take a look and sign up so you can say you were there, part of the very first of what will become a great race in the South.
